Interview with Charles Martinet

Charles Martinet is one of the happiest people I have ever met. For those of you who don’t know him, he’s been voicing most of the characters in the Super Mario Bros franchise for nearly 30 years, but is best known as the voice of Mario. You can tell from the second you meet him that he’s extremely passionate about what he does and still finds joy in something he’s been doing for a good portion of his life. I was lucky enough to sit down with him at the recent Armageddon Expo in Wellington and speak with him about how he got started in the franchise, the role of video games in bringing people together at conventions and meetups such as the one we were at, and just what Mario Teaches Typing was all about. Be sure to go follow Charles on Twitter here.
